Two late penalties from flyhalf Leighton McKenna were enough to squeeze the Magpies through to the second round of the Swalec Bowl after a 27-30 thriller away at Llandeilo. Tumble raced into a 7-21 lead after 24 minutes with tries from wing Nicky Allinson, scrumhalf Rhodri Jones and centre James Owens all of which were converted by McKenna. The Magpies then took the foot off the accelerator and allowed the Ravens back into the game, seeing their lead pegged back to 17-21 by half time. McKenna kicked another penalty early in the second half before a converted try and penalty from Llandeilo saw them take the lead 27-24. Llandeilo were however punished late on when McKenna slotted over two penalties to win the game 27-30 and send the Magpies through to the second round.
