Piod Pinc find Seven too hot to handle

Unbelievably on the 25 March the Piod Pinc finally played their first fixture of 2018 a full 15 weeks since their last game in early December. With Pontarddulais withdrawing from the scheduled league match a friendly match against Women's Premier Division side Seven Sisters RFC was arranged in an attempt to get the girls some much needed game time. The gulf in size between the two sides was evident from the warm-up with Seven fielding a massive front five and with several Ospreys players in their ranks they quickly put Tumble under pressure running in some early scores to build-up an early lead. All credit to a gutsy Tumble side as after 20 minutes they got on the scoresheet themselves when captain and hooker Hannah Stephens crossed the whitewash for a try that was converted by outside half Kirsten Field. Despite some fine defensive play the Piod Pinc could not prevent further scores from Seven Sisters and the score at the break was 7-25 to the visitors.

The second half started in a similar fashion with Tumble absorbing pressure from their bigger opponents and another Seven try and conversion made the score 7-32. Unfortunately the referee was forced to abandon the game after the hour mark when Tumble replacement centre Rhian Roberts received a potentially nasty injury. Everyone at the club wishes Rhian all the best and hope that the injury is not too serious.

Special mention must go to Tumble winger Nicole Davies who made her debut for the Piod Pinc. Nicole has been training with the club since the ladies team reformed back in 2016 and has been counting down the days until her 18th birthday ever since.
